Extruded profiles can come in a number
of types as well as shapes. This includes tubes, rods, channels, rigid,
flexible etc. That is the reason why they are called by the name of shaped
extrusions. There is so much range available in Pipes and tubes that they
are now in fact separated from the grouping of extruded profiles and
represent an industry on their own.
Profiles are generally shapes that are non circular in nature. Exception to
this is the circular or symmetrical extruded product, in the form of
capillary tubing. Profiles can also be solid, hollow, or both. Hollow
sections find a place in applications like, tapes, window frame profiles,
edgings, and gaskets, There could be structural shapes in the form a T, U,
I, or H, squares, etc. Simple profiles can include solid or V shapes.
